BALTIMORE, Md. – The University of Virginia women’s doubles team of Leslie Cook and Christy Schweer was upset in the first round of qualifying at the 1998 T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships at the Suburban Club in Baltimore, Md.

The third-seeded Cavalier duo lost to Tracey Gobey and Marketta Blazkova of South Alabama 8-6 this afternoon. The loss was the second in a row for the UVa tandem.

Sophomore Brian Vahaly is participating in the men’s singles main draw tomorrow. He will face Gustav Pousette of Kent at 8:30 AM.

Vahaly and fellow sophomore Huntley Montgomery are also competing in the doubles main draw tomorrow. Their first round opponent has not been determined.
