Men's Golf Finishes 11th at Perry Maxwell Tournament

ARDMORE, Okla. – The University of Virginia golf team finished 11th on Sunday (May 10) in the 54-hole, 14-team Perry Maxwell Tournament. Oklahoma State won the team championship by one stroke over Auburn. Oklahoma State finished with a team total of 858 and Auburn had a team total of 859. Virginia had a team total of 893.
James Driscoll was the top player for the Cavaliers in the tournament. Driscoll finished tied for ninth in the individual competition after rounds of 76-72-68 for a 6-over-par total of 216.
Chris Wall of New Mexico won the individual competition with an even par total of 210 (66-74-70).
Other players for Virginia in the tournament included Cameron Yancey (tied for 30th, 73-72-76 221), Mike Mitchell (tied for 38th, 74-76-74 224), Lewis Chitengwa (tied for 53rd, 73-80-75 228) and Andrea Brotto (tied for 65th, 78-80-74 232).
The Cavaliers open play in the NCAA East Region Tournament on Thursday (May 14) on the Melrose Golf Course at Daufuskie Island in Hilton Head, S.C.
