CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–Attackman Jamie Leachman, substituting for injured starter Drew McKnight, scored five first-half goals as Virginia defeated Bucknell 27-5 in the final game of its regular season.

McKnight, the Cavaliers’ second-leading scorer and leading assist man, watched from the sidelines with a separated shoulder suffered last weekend in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament championship game against Maryland. Virginia lost that game 14-11.

Leachman, a junior, scored the game’s first goal when he stole goalie Stephen Ward’s pass and converted and then tallied the last three goals of the first quarter to stake the Cavaliers to an 11-2 lead.

The Cavaliers will now wait for NCAA tournament bids to be handed out May 3.
