WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The University of Virginia men’s tennis team defeatedWake Forest 6-1 today to extend its winning streak to three matches. Withthe win, Virginia improves to 13-7 overall and 4-3 in the ACC, while WakeForest falls to 11-14 and 3-5 in the ACC.

Virginia’s top doubles team of Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahaly upsetWake Forest’s 14th-ranked pair of Myles Clouston and Raul Munoz 9-8 (3) tohelp the Cavaliers claim the doubles point. Virginia’s #2 team of TommyCroker and John Winter won their 13th match in a row with an 8-3 victoryover Michael Berger and Brett Mauro.

The Cavaliers had to work hard in singles, but prevailed by winning five ofsix matches. Virginia was particularly adept at three-setters, winning allthree. Hyon Yoo won his seventh match in a row with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 winover Michael Berger at #4. Winter won his second ACC match in his lastthree tries by defeating Johan Hansen 6-2, 6-4 at #4. Croker, Virginia’shottest player, won for the seventh time in eight matches with a 7-6(5),6-2 win over Brett Mauro at #5. Vahaly downed Myles Clouston at #1 andBrian Hunter defeated Andres Guzman at #6 to help propel the Cavaliers tothe win.

The Cavaliers conclude the regular season Sunday at Duke at 1 p.m.
