BLACKSBURG, Va. — The 48th-ranked Virginia Tech men’s tennis team fell to 17-8 with a 4-3 loss to the 52nd-ranked University of Virginia Saturday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

The Hokies started off the day by capturing the doubles point as the 33rd-ranked team of brothers Adam and Aaron Marchetti (Williamstown, W.Va.) defeated Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahaly 8-4. The team of Marek Pfeil (Blacksburg, Va.) and Lance Mills (Omaha, Neb.) recorded their sixth doubles win as they handed Bear Schofield and Hyon Yoo an 8-4 loss.

With the match score at 3-2 in favor of Virginia, Tech senior Mark Tepes (Williamsburg, Va.) pulled out a tough 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 win over Tommy Croker. The deciding match between Pfeil and Yoo came down to a third set tie-breaker. Yoo pulled out the 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 win as Pfeil put a forehand into the net.

The Hokies will return to action April 3 against Old Dominion at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
