CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA–The University of Virginia men’s tennis team bounced back from a loss to Duke yesterday by defeating Florida State 5-2 at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center today. The win improves the Cavalier’s record to 13-6 (4-3 in the ACC).

Virginia came out strong, winning two of the three doubles matches to capture the first point of the game. Tommy Croker and John Winter defeated Michael Ingham and Jay Travis at #3, while Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahaly beat Alex Golub and Yvo Niks at #2. Montgomery and Vahaly’s win over the Seminoles continues their undefeated doubles reign in the conference. Currently, the freshmen duo is 7-0 in the ACC.

The Cavaliers then rolled through the singles, winning four of the six matches. Vahaly beat Golub at #1, Montgomery defeated Ty Braswell at #2, Hyon Yoo won against Yvo Niks at #3, and Tommy Croker defeated Jay Travis at #5. The Cavaliers return to action Saturday (April 18) against #42 North Carolina at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center, 1PM.
