Scott Breaks UVa Assists Record, Named to All-Tournament Team

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – University of Virginia volleyball player Mary Frances Scott (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) was named to the 1998 Navy Trident Classic All-Tournament Team after she guided the Cavaliers to a 3-1 record. Scott, a third-year setter for UVa, gathered 172 assists, 26 digs and 13 kills for the Cavaliers in the tournament.
Scott’s performance not only earned her a spot on the all-tournament team, she also broke the career assists mark at Virginia (3,071) held by Lisa Flower (1989-92). The record fell when Scott gathered her 30th assist in UVa’s second game of the tournament against Minnesota. Entering the 1998 season, Scott ranked third all-time at Virginia with 2965 assists.
