TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 16th-ranked Florida State softball teamadvanced to the championship game of the 1998 Atlantic Coast Conference indomineering fashion early this evening with a 10-0, five-inning victory over Virginia at LadySeminole Field. FSU, now 49-18 overall, will face the winner of theVirginia/North Carolina game at 3:30 tomorrow. UNC and UVA will play atnoon.

Nine hits, including five extra-base hits, helped spur the Tribe tovictory. Junior Corrie Williams led the attack, going 2-for-4, including adouble and a triple. She had a team-high three RBIs and also scored a run.Shortstop Jesse McGregor went 3-for-3 with an RBI while Kristy Hull beltedtwo hits and drove in a run.

Junior Stacy Venable allowed just three Virginia base hits. She improvedto 17-7 overall and is 2-0 in the ACC Tournament with a 0.00 ERA. Virginiaused three pitchers. Stacey Zagol recorded her first loss of thetournament and is now 18-13 on the year.

A five-run fifth inning for the Lady Seminoles allowed the the game to becalled after five innings due to the eight-run rule.
