CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia softball player Kristen Dennis (Encinitas, Calif./La Costa) gathered the first Southern Atlantic Alliance Softball Player of the Week honor after she paced the Cavaliers to a 4-2 record in the UNC Triangular Classic Tournament. In her first weekend of collegiate play, Dennis started all six games for UVa and batted .556 en route to a 10-18 performance at the plate. Four of her ten hits went for extra bases as she recorded three doubles and blasted Virginia’s first home run of the season in her first collegiate game. Dennis also scored seven runs, collected five RBI and stole one base.

Dennis displayed her all-around game by posting a 2-0 record as a pitcher as well. She pitched four innings in a 4-3 victory over Campbell and for innings in a 9-1 win over UNC-Greensboro. Dennis posted a 0.88 ERA and tallied eight strikeouts in her outings.
