Swimmer Shamek Pietucha Competes at Common wealth Games

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — University of Virginia swimmer Shamek Pietucha finished seventh in the 100-meter butterfly at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday (Sept. 13). He finished the event with a time of 54.48 seconds. Geoff Huegill of Australia won the event with a time of 52.81 seconds.
Pietucha, from Edmonton, Alberta, represented Canada in the competition. He is also scheduled to compete in the 200-meter butterfly at the Commonwealth Games.
Pietucha earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference and first-team All-America honors last season.
