Virginia's Jamie Sutherland Earns ACC Honor

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia cross country runner Jamie Sutherland (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) was named the ACC Women’s Performer of the Week. She finished first overall in the 5,000 meter event with a time of 17:31.20 in the 1998 Cavalier Invitational held at Darden Towe Park. Sutherland’s time set a new personal-best mark, established a new coarse-record and aided Virginia in capturing first place as a team in the 5k event.

Phillip Gable of Georgia Tech received the men’s honor after he placed fourth in the Georgia State Invitational with a time of 26:04. His mark helped the Yellow Jackets capture the men’s title in the meet.
