CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior DeMya Walker was named the Cavalier of the Year during thewomens basketball banquet tonight at the Double Tree Inn. Walker, who ledthe Cavaliers in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blockedshots this past season, also took home the Best Offensive Player award andshared the Rebounding Award with sophomore Lisa Hosac.

Senior Mimi McKinney was given the Best Defensive Player Award andthe awards for Most Assists and the Highest Free Throw Percentage. TheMost Improved Player Award went to junior Lesley Brown and freshman ElenaKravchenko. Sophomore Lisa Hosac was the recipient of the Bob WilliamsAward which is given to the player which best represents the academic andathletic partnership.

The Cavaliers, 19-10 overall and 9-7 in the ACC, made their 15thstraight NCAA Tournament appearance and finished the season ranked 17th inAP poll and 23rd in the USA Today poll.
