Women's Hoops Downs ACC Rival Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Demya Walker scored 19 points and had eightrebounds to lead 19th-ranked Virginia to an 80-71 victory over Florida State inan Atlantic Coast Conference game Friday night.
Virginia (12-5 overall, 5-2 ACC) built a 17-point lead early in the secondhalf, but Florida State (6-11, 1-7) trimmed it to four with 4:42 left beforethe Cavaliers pulled away.
The Seminoles shot just 35.8 percent from the floor and never led, fallingbehind 14-4 in the first eight minutes.
Virginia, which has won four of its last five games, led 36-21 at halftime.
Florida State went on a 12-2 run to cut the lead to 58-53 with 8:14remaining. April Traylor, who finished with 19 points, later scored fourstraight to bring Florida State to 64-60 with 4:42 left.
Walker scored five straight points to trigger an 11-3 run which stretchedthe lead back to a comfortable 75-63 margin with 50 seconds remaining.
Virginia made 25 of 31 free throws and outrebounded Florida State 35-28.
Erin Stovall added 13 points for Virginia and Lesley Brown and Monick Footehad 10 each.
Tamara Gracey had 18 points and seven rebounds and Jen Robinson scored 12points for Florida State.
