CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The University of Virginia women’s tennis team closedthe regular season with a 9-0 win over N.C. State this afternoon at theSheridan Snyder Tennis Center. The win, Virginia’s fourth shutout of theseason, helped the Cavaliers end the regular season on a high note as theyhead into the ACC Tournament. Virginia improves to 12-8 overall and 3-5 inthe ACC.

The Cavaliers wasted little time in claiming the victory by sweeping thesingles portion of the match. Paige Boiko ended a six-match losing streakwith a 6-0, 6-3 win over Nena Bonacic at #1, while Stacy Gingold continuedher hot play of late by defeating Marissa Gildemeister 6-3, 6-4 at #2.

Virginia also got wins from Amy O’Donnell at #3, Leslie Cook at #4,Christie Schweer at #5 and Kelly Weaver at #6.

The Cavaliers preserved the shutout by winning all three doubles matches.

Virginia returns to action at the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament atthe Racquet Club of the South in Norcross, Ga., April 22-25.
