CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–Duke’s women’s tennis team lived up to its #2 national rank and defeated Virginia 8-1 this afternoon at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center. The loss drops Virginia’s record this season to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. Duke, winners of 95 consecutive matches against ACC schools, improves to 15-3 overall and 4-0 in the ACC.

The Blue Devils swept all six singles matches in straight sets to clinch the victory. Virginia gained its lone win at #3 doubles as freshmen Leslie Cook and Christie Schweer, ranked 32nd nationally, came from behind to defeat Kathy Sell and Brooke Siebel 9-7.

The Cavaliers return to action next weekend with a trip to Massachusetts. They play at Harvard on Saturday (April 4) at 9 AM and at Boston College the following day at 10 AM.
