CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia women’s tennis team upset #46 Richmond this afternoon 6-3 at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center. Their victory over Richmond was their fourth in a row and raised their record to 8-3.

Virginia won four of the six singles matches to take an early lead after first-years Leslie Cook, Christie Schweer and Kelly Weaver, and fourth-year Emily Hill dominated each of their opponents in straight sets. Hill crushed Elizabeth Cascarilla 6-3, 6-0 at #3. Cook’s win over Janelle Williams and Weaver’s victory over Lindsay Woodworth marked the fifth consecutive win for each this spring. Schweer’s triumph over Amy Croker makes it her fourth consecutive win this spring.

Richmond closed the gap to 4-3 with a win at #1 doubles. Yet, the Cavaliers claimed the match with Paige Boiko and Kendall White’s 8-4 win over Janelle Williams and Lindsay Woodworth at #2.

The Cavaliers return to action at home against VCU on Wednesday March 25 at 1 PM.
