VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The University of Virginia women’s tennis team openedits spring dual match season Saturday (Feb. 7) with a 7-2 victory over OldDominion in a match played at the Princess Anne Country Club in VirginiaBeach, Va. The win is the Cavaliers’ third in a row over the Monarchsdating back to 1990.

Several Cavaliers ended brief losing streaks with singles victories.Sophomore Kelly Weaver got back on the winning track with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2three-set win over Iva Beli. Joining Weaver in getting back to the wincolumn were Jana Liskovcova, Amy O’Donnell and Christie Schweer. SeniorPaige Boiko was the lone Cavalier to suffer defeat.

Christine Kim, seeing her first action of the spring season, also won athree-set match with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Raquel Araujo.

With the outcome of the match already decided, the Cavaliers closed thematch with two doubles wins. Schweer and Liskovcova gained an 8-3 win overBeli and Lacey Lee in their first match as doubles partners.
