Finch Places Sixth at World University Games

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia swimmer Doak Finch finished sixth for the United States in the 200-meter butterly on Monday (July 5) at the World University Games in Mallorca, Spain. Finch finished in a time of 2:01.91. Jeff Somensatto of the United States won the event with a time of 1:58.69.

Finch, from Southern Pines, N.C., earned All-America honors as a junior with a seventh place finish in the 200-butterfly at the 1999 NCAA Championships. He also won both the 200 and 400-individual medley at the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.
