CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia rower Andrea Saathoff (Indialantic, Fla.) has been named to the United States Under-23 World Championship Team that competes July 24-25 in Hamburg, Germany. She is a member of the four without coxswain crew.

Saathoff has also been invited to be a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego, Calif., later this year.

A 1999 graduate of Virginia, Saathoff was a first-team All-America selection and a first-team All-Central Region selection by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association this spring. She was a member of Virginia’s first varsity eight crew that finished second at the 1999 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships. She also finished seventh at the World Indoor Rowing Championships in February.

Virginia finished tied with Brown in the final team standings at the 1999 NCAA Championships. Virginia and Brown both finished with 56 points in the team competition, but the team championship went to Brown based on the NCAA tiebreaker of highest finish in the first varsity eight.
