ALMADA, Portugal – Chris Williams (Birmingham, Ala.) and Adam Hall (Katy, Texas) of the University of Virginia participated in the USA Men’s Junior World Championship Team’s 84-70 victory over Russia Wednesday night (July 21) in quarterfinals play at the 1999 FIBA Men’s Junior World Championship in Almada, Portugal. The USA is now 6-0 in the tournament and plays Croatia (5-1) in a semifinal game on Saturday (July 24) in Lisbon. Russia is now 4-2 in the tournament.

Williams, a 6-6 forward, scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds in the victory. He made two of four shots from the field, including one of two three-point field goal attempts, and both of his free throw attempts. Williams also had two assists, two steals and two turnovers in 21 minutes of action.

Hall, a 6-5 guard/forward, played three minutes in the game. He had one rebound and one turnover.

Keyon Dooling scored 18 points to lead the USA team, Steve Logan scored 11 points, and Michael Wright added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The USA shot 45.9 percent (28-61) from the field, including 43.8 percent (7-16) from three-point range, and out-rebounded Russia 41-27.
