Owens, Thiele Named Runners Of The Week

Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia’s Jennifer Owens (Charlottesville,Va./Albemarle) and Bobby Thiele (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) wereboth named Runners of the Week by Ragged Mountain Running Shop as theypaced the Cavalier cross country teams to their best combined finish since1990.

Owens led the women to a third place finish, including an upset of19th-ranked Wake Forest as she took home fourth place individually. Hertime of 17:30.5 was tops for the Cavaliers in earning her secondconsecutive All-ACC honor.

Thiele was also named an All-ACC performer for the second year in arow as the men finished in fourth place, their highest finish in theconference meet since 1995 (fourth).

The Cavaliers will return to action in two weeks to compete in theNCAA Southeast Regional on November 13 in Greenville, SC.
