WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Cavaliers’ last two lines of defense, keeper BeckyWorthington (Fairview Village, Pa./Methacton) and sweeper Julia Richardson(Atlanta, Ga./Stone Ridge (MD)) were both named to the All-Tournament teamat the 1999 ACC Field Hockey Championships this weekend. The Cavaliersdefeated #11 Duke 2-0 on Thursday before falling to eventual champion and#1 Maryland 2-0 in the semifinals.

In the game against Duke, Worthington recorded eight saves whilemaking her seventh shutout on the season. Richardson also had two defensivesaves in the game which came while the Hoos were playing one player short.

Against Maryland, the Cavalier defense held the nation’shighest-scoring offense to two goals, their lowest output of the year.

This is the second time that Worthington has been named to theAll-Tournament team (1997).

Virginia now awaits a bid to the NCAA tournament. These bids willbe announced on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
