Cavaliers Finish In Top Seven At NCAA Regionals

GREENVILLE, S.C.— Virginia’s Jennifer Owens (Charlottesville,Va./Albemarle) and Bobby Thiele (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) bothled the Cavaliers to top-seven finishes at the NCAA Southeast Regionaltoday in Greenville. Owens finished eighth overall in the 5K race with atime of 17:29, pacing the Hoos to a sixth place finish with a team score of169.
Thiele finished 12th in the 10K men’s division in a time of 30:21while the men’s team took seventh place with a team score of 182, just twopoints out of fifth.
Both Owens and Thiele now await at-large bids to the NCAAChampionships which will be awarded on Monday, Nov. 15. The NCAAChampionships will take place in Bloomington, IN on Monday, Nov. 22.
