HAMPTON, Va. (AP) – Virginia scored 15 points before Hampton got a shot offFriday night and had the game’s first 20 points in a 102-56 victory.

The Cavaliers (6-3) led 33-5 after less than seven minutes and by at least35 throughout the second half after taking a 59-23 lead into the break.

Chris Williams led Virginia with 18 points in 17 minutes and Donald Hand andAdam Hall each scored 15 points. The Cavaliers shot 54.3 percent to Hampton’s28.8 percent, outrebounded the Pirates (0-4) 55-37 and forced 20 turnovers.

Hand also had 11 assists, just two fewer than the Pirates’ total, whileWillie Dersch scored 11 points and Travis Watson and Josh Hare had 10 apiece.

Tommy Adams led Hampton with 14 points and Mackel Purvis had 13.

Williams had nine points on three layups, a jumper and free throw and Halladded eight on a 3-pointer, layup, tip-in and free throw as the Cavaliersblitzed the Pirates from the opening tip, taking a 20-0 lead after just 4:01 ofplay.

Davis broke the skid with a 3-pointer for Hampton, but Virginia promptlyscored 13 of the next 15 points before Purvis ended that run with a layup.After Watson’s dunk with 14:25 to play in the half, the Cavaliers lead neverwent below 21.

Fifteen Cavaliers saw action and 12 of them scored.
