Cavaliers Roll Past Belmont, 94-74

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) – Chris Williams scored 20 points to lead Virginiato a 94-74 victory over Belmont Tuesday night.
Williams made eight of 12 field goals and the Cavaliers (8-3) shot 54percent from the field.
Each team attempted 28 3-pointers. Belmont (3-8) connected on 12, Virginiamade 11.
Donald Hand had 17 points and eight assists for the Cavaliers. Willie Derschand Keith Friel each scored 12.
B.J. Proffitt led Belmont with 17 points. He made all five field goals heattempted, including 3 3-pointers, and was four-of-four from the free-throwline. Ryan Steger added 15 and Davey Upton 14.
The Cavaliers led 45-34 at halftime.
Belmont head coach Rick Byrd was ill and did not attend the game. AssistantsCasey Alexander and Brian Ayers coached in his place.
