Four Field Hockey Players Named To Academic All-American Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Cavalier senior captain Laura Lindsay(Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Academy) was a repeat honoree to the NFHCAAcademic All-American team for 1999 as announced by the organization. Shewas joined on the Academic All-American team by Becky Worthington (FairviewVillage, Pa./Methacton), Carrie Goodloe (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs) andKristy Sott (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon)
Lindsay ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 26 points on 5goals and 16 assists. Her 16 assists move her to 44 for her career, whichranks seventh all-time in ACC history and second all-time at Virginia. Thecareer record-holder for assists as a sophomore with 19, her 16 in 1999ranks fourth for fourth-years and eighth for a single season all-time atVirginia. Her eight career game-winning assists ranks sixth all-time atVirginia.
Worthington spent every minute of every game in the cage andmarshalled one of the nation’s top backfields. An All-ACC Tournamentselection for the second year, Worthington had a 1.61 goals-against averagewhich ranked her in the top-20 in the nation.
Goodloe led the Cavaliers with 19 assists, which ranked 12th in thenation. It is also the Virginia record for assists as a sophomore and ranksas the fourth-highest total for a season in school history. She rankedthird on the team in scoring this past season.
Sott was an integral member of the Virginia defense, which rankedamong the top 20 in the nation. She started all 21 games on a defense thatallowed 1.61 goals per game.
