Charlottesville, Va. – Middle linebacker Yubrenal Isabelle has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his play in the Cavaliers’ 27-10 win over Wake Forest on Saturday.

The co-captain from Bluefield, W.Va., graded out at 94% overall as he turned in one of his best all-around performances of the season in the win over the Demon Deacons. He led the team in tackles with 11, including six solo stops, to become the first player other than Byron Thweatt to lead the team this season. He made two tackles behind the line, including a quarterback sack, and broke up one pass as Virginia held Wake Forest to 307 yards of total offense, the lowest total by a UVa division I-A opponent this season.

Isabelle’s 11 tackles mark the first time since the Duke game last season that he reached double figures. He is tied for third on the team in tackles this season with 44 (8.8/g). Isabelle is also tied with defensive end Ljubomir Stamenich for the team lead with two quarterback sacks.
