PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Virginia women’s tennis team won first and second round matches at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tennis Invitational in Princeton, N.J. Friday (October 13. The Cavaliers beat Columbia, 6-1, in the first round, before defeating Temple, 5-2. UVa will face Harvard in the semifinals Saturday (October 14) at 11:30 a.m.

Fourth-year Christie Schweer (Houston, Texas / Memorial), first-year Laura James (Fairfax, Va. / Centerville), fourth-year Kelly Weaver (Kingston, N.Y. / Kingston), and third-year Christine Kim (McLean, Va. / Bishop Ireton) all won two matches apiece in the singles portion of the match. Meanwhile, the doubles teams of Kim and James and Weaver and Jennifer Tuchband (Millburn, N.J. / Millburn) each won two doubles matches to guarantee the `Hoos the lone doubles point in each match.
