PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Virginia women’s tennis team advanced to the finals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tennis Invitational in Princeton, N.J. Saturday (October 14), with a 6-1 victory over Harvard.

Fourth-year Christie Schweer (Houston, Texas / Memorial), first-year Laura James (Fairfax, Va. / Centerville), second-year Henriette Williams (Raleigh, N.C. / Broughton), second-year Jennifer Tuchband (Millburn, N.J. / Millburn) and third-year Christine Kim (McLean, Va. / Bishop Ireton) all won their singles matches, giving the Cavaliers five of the possible six singles points.

The `Hoos also clinched the lone doubles point when Williams and Schweer teamed to beat Sanja Bajin and Sanaz Ghanal, 8-6, and Kelly Weaver (Kingston, N.Y. / Kingston) and Tuchband combined to defeat Sarah McGinty and Lara Naqushbandi, 8-5.

Virginia plays for the championship Sunday (October 15) at 10:00 a.m. against Penn.
