CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — North Carolina’s Kristen McCann notched a pair of goals to help the Tar Heels (15-1) defeat the Cavaliers (9-5) 3-0 today in Charlottesville. McCann laced a ball into the upper corner of the cage for the game winner with only 1:41 remaining in the first half.

The Tar Heels went up 2-0 five minutes into the second half as McCann took a pass from Holly Huff and shot it into the cage. Jana Toepel scored the final goal for the Tar Heels as she connected on a penalty corner option from Erin Cox.

The Cavaliers had the advantage in corners 6-3, with five coming in the second half. Becky Worthington (Fairview Village, Pa./Methacton) made seven saves on the day.

The Cavaliers continue their homestand on Wednesday, October 18 against the Highlanders of Radford. Game time is 7:00 pm.
