Virginia Men's Tennis Loses to # 26 Fresno State, 4-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The # 48 University of Virginia men’s tennis team lost to # 26 Fresno State at the Blue Gray National College Classic in Montgomery, Ala. on Friday afternoon (Mar. 16). The Cavaliers fall to 4-2 on the season with the loss.
The nation’s top-ranked doubles duo of Brian Vahaly (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) and Huntley Montgomery (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) lost its first dual match of the season to the Bulldogs’ Peter Lucvak and Dave Mullins, 8-5. The Cavaliers also lost at No. 2 doubles to lose the doubles point. The third doubles match was suspended after the point was awarded.
Vahaly also suffered his first loss in singles at a dual match, falling 6-3, 6-4, to Lucvak. Tommy Croker (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens) and Michael Duquette (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) also lost their matches, giving Fresno State a 4-0 win. The other three singles matches were suspended after the dual match was decided.
The Cavaliers will play Boise State Saturday morning (Mar. 17) at 8:00 a.m.
