CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia softball team will wrap up the home portion of its schedule this weekend by hosting Pittsburgh and Maryland in doubleheaders at The Park on Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22, respectively. Both doubleheaders will begin at 1:00 p.m. The Cavaliers are currently 14-0 at home this season and 43-13 overall. Virginia is 2-2 in the ACC and 3-3 in the Southern Atlantic Softball Alliance.

Virginia established a new single season school record for wins with its 43rd victory of the season in an 11-4 win over Elon College in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 18 at The Park. The 1989 squad held the former school record for wins in a season with 42 en route to a 42-12 record.

Pittsburgh enters Saturday’s doubleheader against the Cavaliers with a 10-29 record. The Panthers are also 3-7 in the Big East. UVa is 1-0 all-time against Pittsburgh.

Virginia hosts Maryland in a key ACC matchup on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Terrapins have won 18 of their last 20 games and stand at 34-14 on the season. Maryland is 1-1 in both the ACC and SASA. UVa leads the all-time series against the Terps 12-5. The two teams split a pair of meetings last year in College Park, Md.

The weekend’s doubleheaders mark the final home games for UVa fourth-year right fielder Meg Young (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury). Young, a tri-captain, holds 11 Virginia softball records, including seven career marks. Young recently set the Cavaliers’ single season hits record with her 68th of the season and now has 72 this year. Young is hitting a career best .381 (72-189) this season and has established a single season UVa record for runs scored with 45.
