Charlottesville, Va. –

Head coach Dom Starsia announces the addition of Steve Holmes and Nathan Kenney to the list of recruits who will play lacrosse at UVa next season.

Holmes is a 6-1, 195-pound defenseman from Gwynedd Valley, Pa. He was a first-team All-State selection last spring at Germantown Academy, where he was also a standout quarterback and wide receiver on the football team.

Kenney is a 6-0, 185-pound midfielder from Royal Oak, Mich. He was a first-team All-Midwest selection in lacrosse at Detroit Country Day school last season. The younger brother of current UVa middie, Derek, he also quarterbacked his school to the Class D Michigan state championship in 1999.

“We are very pleased to be adding Steve and Nathan’s names to an outstanding incoming class,” said Starsia. “They will quickly establish themselves as two of the strongest athletes within our program. Virginia lacrosse fans will soon enjoy getting to know them.”

The addition of Holmes and Kenney bring the total to nine recruits for the upcoming season. Starsia’s program previously signed M/A Jonathon Christmas (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion), M Jack deVilliers (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul’s), A Brendan Gill (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul’s), M Hunter Kass (Rye, N.Y./St. Mark’s (Mass.)), M Jared Little (Black River, N.Y./Carthage), D Matt Paquet (Demarest, N.J./Avon Old Farms (Conn.)) and A Joe Yevoli (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony’s).
