CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Virginia women’s basketball players Kristin Ambrose and Chelsea Whitaker are transferring from the Cavalier program. The two freshmen will not be eligible to compete at a Division I institution until the 2002-03 academic year.

“We appreciate everything these two players have done for the Virginia women’s basketball program,” said head coach Debbie Ryan. “We wish them the best in their future careers.”

Virginia finished the 2000-01 season with an 18-14 record and received its 18th consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Cavaliers were eliminated from the tournament after an 81-71 overtime loss to the University of Michigan in the first round.
