Dawn Cleary smashed her own school record in the steeplechase with a 10:25.80, shaving more than 21 seconds off her record time and missing the NCAA automatic qualifying mark by just over five seconds en route to taking the silver in the ECAC Championships this weekend. On the men’s side, Sam Jackson became the first Cavalier to break nine minutes in the steeplechase this season, running the race in 8:56.80 en route to an 8th-place finish.

Other scorers for the Cavaliers included Bill Johnston (8th, hammer, 57.50m), Brian Kollar (2nd, jav, 68.92m), and Jarrett Hagwood (8th, long jump, 7.32m). Three Cavalier women placed in the weight events:Eliese Mitchell (3rd, hammer, 53.78m), Hilary Wilson, (2nd, discus, 47.34m), and Inhar Chong (8th, discus, 44.06m).

A number of Cavaliers ran season-best times, including Bobby Thiele, who finished the 5000-meter run in 14:28.52. Also putting up season-best times and qualifying for the finals were Jarrett Hagwood (110HH, 14.33) and Natalie Randolph (400IH, 1:00.45). Other qualifiers for the finals are the men’s 3200m relay (7:34.27), Kiamesha Otey (100, 11.94) Carielle Doe (400, 54.53), and the women’s 400m-relay (46.12)
