The University of Virginia’s Sharon O’Connor (Lorton, Va- Mt. Vernon) and Will Christian won individual titles in the men’s and women’s competition, and each led their team to second place finishes overall. Both teams had all their scoring runners finish among the top twenty runners. Virginia’s women’s and men’s teams held out their scoring athletes from last year ACC’s meet in preparation for the remainder of the season. William and Mary won both men’s and women’s titles, and were led by Aaron Rich (2nd, 25:27.2) and Cheryl Bauer (3rd, 18:48.4).

On the women’s side, Sharon O’Connor (1st, 18:45.6) led fellow teammates Jessica Ellis (7th, 19:21.5), Ashley Seaton (8th, 19:24.9), Jill Berger (9th, 19:41.5), and Lauren Chaikin (12th, 19:50.2). This was Ellis’ and Seaton’s first collegiate meet.

In his debut meet, first-year Will Christian (1st, 25:26.1) led a young Virginia’s men team where three out of the five scorers, Dave Vitto (11th, 26:33.8), and James Catano (15th, 27:09.2) are first years. Pat English (9th, 26:28.2) and Stephen Henn (14th, 26:53.1) rounded out the scoring finishers.

The Cavaliers compete next weekend at the Wolfpack Invitational at Raleigh, NC.
