KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Virginia men’s golf team is tied for seventh place after two rounds of the Tennessee Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions at the par-70 6,296-yard Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. The Cavaliers shot a first round score of 281 and tallied a second round total of 291 for a tournament score of 572. Virginia is tied with Louisiana State, 12 shots back of tournament leader the University of Toledo (558).

Cavalier golfer Kevin O’Connell is UVa’s top scorer through the first two rounds. He carded a 67 and a 71 to shoot 138 for the first two rounds, good enough for a sixth-place tie. Steve Marino is currently one shot back of O’Connell (66 73 – 139). Tournament leader Nichk Rousey from Alabama holds a one-stroke lead over Nathan Goulding from LSU. The pair shot a 134 and a 135, respectively. Thomas Lee (142), Justin Goodhue (152) and Jeremy Luce (154) round out Virginia ‘s tournament entries.

Toledo followed an opening round 277 with a 281 to jump out to a seven-shot lead over tournament host Tennessee. The third and final round will be played today (October 23).
