CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia women’s basketball player Liz Sahin, a junior transfer from Palm Beach Community College who hails from Hatay, Turkey, is ineligible for Virginia’s first four games of the 2001-02 season. Sahin played in Thursday night’s (Nov. 8) 72-67 exhibition victory over the Houston Jaguars, but will not be in action again until the Cavaliers’ November 26 home game against Howard.

The NCAA declared Sahin ineligible because of her participation with Fenerbache Sports Club of Turkey. She will miss one game for every five she played with Fenerbache. Sahin was granted permission to play in Virginia’s second exhibition game after missing the first. She will continue to practice with the team.
