CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia women’s rowing team picked up wins in the varsity four and the varsity quad competitions, and finished second in both the varsity eight and the novice eight races at the Rivanna Romp Regatta on Sunday (Nov. 11) at the Rivanna Reservoir.

The Cavaliers won the varsity four competition with a time of 14:04.62. Ohio State finished second with a time of 14:10.44 followed by Duke (14:24.24), Clemson (14:30.41) and Ohio State “B” (14:37.36). Virginia’s “B” boat finished sixth with a time of 14:38.01. UVa also had its “C” boat finish eighth (15:02.56) and its “D” boat finish 12th (15:24.72).

Virginia also finished first in the varsity quad race with a time of 13:43.28. Ohio State finished second with a time of 13:46.99 followed by Duke (14:47.40) and Duke’s “B” boat (15:30.49).

UVa finished second in the varsity eight with a time of 12:50.67 behind Ohio State’s time of 12:44.11. Clemson took third (13:11.65) followed by Virginia’s “B” boat (13:15.66) and Syracuse (13:18.73). Virginia’s “C” boat finished seventh with a time of 13:37.50.

Duke won the novice eight competition with a time of 13:48.20. The Cavaliers took second with a time of 13:51.94, while Virginia’s “B” boat was third (14:19.77) and UVa’s “C” boat finished fifth (14:52.58).

The Rivanna Romp was the Cavaliers’ last competition of the fall season. Virginia competed at the Head of the Charles Regatta and the Princeton Chase in October.

Virginia’s men’s club rowing team also competed at the Rivanna Romp finishing second in the eight competition (11:57.16) and third in the four competition with a time of 13:42.64. Georgetown won both events for the men with times of 11:53.92 in the eight competition and 13:17.45 in the four competition.
