GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia women’s basketball player Brandi Teamer (Joliet, Ill.) earned Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, the ACC announced on Monday.

A starter in all four games, Teamer helped UVa through three games last week. In Monday’s decision at Richmond, the forward recorded her first career double-double with career highs of 26 points and 13 rebounds. In Monday’s 69-52 win over Liberty in the home opener, the forward recorded her second double-double with 10 points and 11 boards. In Saturday’s loss at Rutgers, she led the Cavaliers with a team-high 16 points and a block in 37 minutes of action.

On the week, the freshman totaled 52 points and 30 rebounds. She leads the ACC in double-double performances in the early going.

After four games, Teamer leads Virginia in scoring and rebounding with 14.3 ppg and 9.3 rpg. She also shoots a team-best .481 from the field.

The ACC honor is the first of Teamer’s collegiate career.

Following tonight’s game with Howard, the Cavaliers host intrastate rival Virginia Tech on Thursday, Nov. 29. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at University Hall.
