Elton Brown Earns ACC Rookie Of The Week Honor

CHARLOTTESVILLE – University of Virginia freshman forward Elton Brown (Newport News, Va.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week on December 24 for his play in the Cavaliers’ victories over Charleston Southern (Dec. 17), Georgetown (Dec. 20) and Rutgers (Dec. 23).

The 6-9 Brown scored 19 points, had seven rebounds and blocked one shot in the three games. In UVa’s 61-55 victory over Georgetown at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C., he scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds.

Brown is averaging 8.4 points and 3.3 rebounds a game through the Cavaliers’ first eight games of the season. He is shooting 55.3 percent (26-47) from the field, including 2-3 from three-point range.

Virginia is currently 8-0 on the season. The Cavaliers return to action on Sunday, Dec. 30, when they host Grambling State at University Hall.
