CHARLOTTESVILLE – Cavalier Sports Marketing, the marketing and broadcast partner for University of Virginia athletics, has announced an agreement with two radio stations in the Commonwealth. WNTW-AM (610) in Winchester and WLES-AM (580) in Lawrenceville are joining the Virginia Sports Network and will broadcast the remaining UVa men’s basketball games during the 2001-02 season.
The agreement provides UVa fans in Winchester and the area south of Petersburg with access to the play-by-play broadcasts of all remaining regular season games. The stations will also carry the entire 2002 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament and all postseason games in which Virginia participates.
“We are very excited to add Virginia men’s basketball to our programming,” said Henry Hoot, executive vice president for WLES. “This is the only college sports programming we offer and feel it will provide our station with a wide audience with great interest in Virginia athletics.”
Chuck Peterson, market manager for WNTW said,” We are pleased to have Virginia men’s basketball as part of the programming mix on WNTW. I have worked with Virginia in the past and look forward to an exciting partnership for many years.”
All Virginia men’s and women’s basketball play-by-play broadcasts, and the Cavalier Call-In show (Mondays at 7:06 p.m.) are available worldwide on www.virginiasports.com, the official internet site for Virginia athletics.
