GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia women’s basketball player LaTonya Blue (Baltimore, Md.) earned Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, the ACC announced on Monday.

Blue netted a career-high 26 points, including a career-best three treys, to guide Virginia to a 68-52 ACC road win over N.C. State in the team’s only action last week. The 5-9 guard combined with fellow freshman Brandi Teamer (Joliet, Ill.) to score 51 of UVa’s 68 points (75 percent). The frosh also added two rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 36 minutes of action.

After 13 games, Blue stands third in team scoring with 10.5 ppg. A starter in 10 contests, she also averages 15.0 ppg in ACC play.

The ACC honor is the first of Blue’s 13-game collegiate career.

Following tonight’s game with Clemson, the Cavaliers travel to Georgia Tech on Thursday, Jan. 10. The next home game is Sunday, Jan. 13 with Wake Forest at 2p.m.
