UVa to Host the 2002 Virginia Intercollegiate State Wrestling Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia and the UVa wrestling team will host the 2002 Virginia Intercollegiate State Wrestling Championships (VISWC) on Saturday, January 19th at Memorial Gymnasium. Seven schools will compete in a tournament format to decide the 2002 state championship wrestling team of Virginia.
UVa, the host team of the VISWC, will join the tournament field of: the Apprentice School, George Mason, James Madison, Old Dominion, Virginia Tech and the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). The event will be held at Virginia’s Memorial Gymnasium on the Grounds of the University of Virginia. Competition in the VISWC will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the preliminary rounds, followed by the quarterfinals and consolation rounds at 1:00 p.m. and the semi-finals and consolation quarterfinals/semi-final rounds at 3:00. The VISWC finals and consolation finals are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Admission will be charged for the event and ticket prices are $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for ages 18 & under, seniors and UVa staff/faculty, and admission will be free for children ages five and under.
