Blacksburg, Va. – The UVa women’s tennis team picked up its third consecutive win of the spring season, downing in-state rival Virginia Tech, 6-1. The Cavaliers improve to 5-1 overall on the season, as they won five of six matches in singles and two of three in doubles.

Henriette Williams picked up her third win of the year with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 win over Kristen Stubbs, at No. 1 singles. Jennifer Tuchband picked up her fourth win of the season, defeating Meredith Vincent, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles. Amy O’Donnell is 4-2 after a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Carolyn Kramer. In doubles, O’Donnell teamed with fellow senior Christine Kim, to defeat Virginia Tech’s Ginger Lowdermilk and Zdenka Videnova, at No. 3 doubles.

The Bechliwanis twins both picked up victories in singles and doubles. Dora, at No. 4 singles, defeated Videnova, 6-1, 6-3, while Marta defeated Lowdermilk at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, the twins defeated Tech’s team of Kramer and Vincent, at No. 2 doubles, 9-8. Dora is a perfect 3-0 at No. 4 singles this year, while improving to 8-3 overall. Marta is 10-3 overall in singles, while as a team, they are 2-1.

Up next for the Cavaliers, a match at Princeton on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m., followed by a trip to Penn on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 1:30 p.m.
