Fayetteville, Ark. – Virginia’s Kiamesha Otey finished fifth in the long jump tonight at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark, earning her All-American honors in that event. It is Otey’s first All-American selection and marks the second consecutive year that a horizontal jumper for Virginia has earned All-American honors. Otey jumped 6.14m in prelims to qualify for the finals, and then jumped 6.26m (20′ 6.5″) in the finals to move from seventh up to fifth.

Eliese Mitchell also represented the Cavaliers at the NCAA meet, where she finished 14th overall in the 20# weight throw. The Virginia school record holder, Mitchell threw 18.97m in her first NCAA Championships.
