Day two from the Queen City…

If the games to come are as exciting as the opening game last night, it should be a fun tournament. The Clemson- Florida State game was back and forth all evening. Florida State had a big lead up thirteen midway through the first half, but the Tigers roared back and were only down 36-33 at the break. Then, it was Clemson who got the big lead in the second half up nine points with five minutes left in the game. But, in the end, it was Florida State that stormed back to send the game to overtime before defeating Clemson, 91-84.

At the game, Virginia assistant coaches Walt Fuller and Scott Sheppard were both in attendance scouting the teams. However, most feel a contest against the Seminoles is unlikely as it would require Florida State to upset top seeded Maryland. But, should the upset occur and Virginia defeat NC State this afternoon, those two teams would meet Saturday… and the Cavaliers would be ready.

Hooping it up with the Cavaliers… Following the shootaround yesterday, the team went to an area high school to have a private practice. This was a last chance to make some final adjustments before today’s game… Well, if you are wondering about the pressure of a must win for possible NCAA tournament possibilities, Virginia senior Chris Williams says the team is not thinking about that. They are focusing on the Wolfpack, and that is the only concern at this point… Adam Hall and his thumb should be ok for today’s game… the first game of the day begins at 12:00 with Maryland taking on Florida State. The Virginia game will follow. Check back later today for a postgame wrap up. Stay tuned…
