Virginia Baseball Falls To Old Dominion, 4-2

NORFOLK, VA. – Allen Strick and Brandon Lenoir scored on an infield error with two outs in the bottom of the eighth as the Monarchs of Old Dominion University defeated the Cavaliers of the University of Virginia, 4-2 for their fifth straight win. ODU is now 10-9, UVA is 11-7.
The Monarchs got on the board first with two runs in the first inning. Senior Jared Musolf singled in both Ryan Harvey and Kevin Snapp with two outs. Musolf has knocked in nine runs in his last four games.
After five shutout innings by Ryan Williams, the Cavaliers plated two runs in the top of the sixth. With two outs Dan Street singled home Kyle Werman and Matt Street.
In the ninth, Allen Strick and Brandon Lenoir each reached on infield hits. With two outs Jess Schoendienst’ grounder got through for an error, scoring Strick and Lenoir, who both had two hits on the day.
Senior lefthander Jonathan Tinkham picked up the win in relief, his second this season. Old Dominion returns to action on Saturday hosting Connecticut in a two-game series beginning at 1:00 p.m. Virginia returns home for a three-game ACC series with Florida State beginning on Friday, March 15th at 2:00 p.m.
