Charlottesville, Va. – The UVa men’s tennis team picked up its seventh victory of the season, with a convincing 7-0 win over Georgetown on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers improve to 7-3, with their second shutout of the season.

“I was pleased with the team’s performance today,” head coach Brian Boland said. “I was pleased with how prepared the team was to play considering the wait we had due to weather. They were focused in doubles, and well prepared. I thought we came out really ready and got the job done.”

Michael Duquette improved to 12-9 on the season, and is 4-1 this season at No.1 singles, as he defeated Mark Lohser, 6-1, 6-3. Stephen Nolen added his team-best 14th victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Dennis Cravedi. Duquette and Nolen teamed at No. 1 doubles to defeat Lohser and Eric Vildman, 8-2. Duquette and Nolen are 7-6 this year as a team.

At No. 3 singles, Jason Romesburg continued to roll, as he defeated Andre Bengerman, 6-0, 6-4. Romesburg is also tied for the team lead in victories with 14 in singles competition. He teamed with Jonathan Chou at No. 2 doubles to defeat Nick Sklavonous and Ken Jordan, 8-5. Romesburg and Chou are 5-1 this season in doubles, winners of four of their last five matches at No. 2 doubles. Chou garnered his seventh win of the season at No. 5 singles, defeating Vildman, 7-5, 6-4.

Jay Curtis improved his record to 13-5 on the season, with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Crklow at No. 4 singles. Curtis teamed with Dillon Walker at No. 3 doubles, to defeat Cravedi and Fingerman, 8-3. Curtis and Walker are 3-1 this season, competing all four matches at No. 3 doubles.

Gregory Alpert added his ninth win of the season, and is 3-1 this season at No. 6 singles, as he defeated Sklavonous, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, clinching the shutout for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers return to the courts on Tuesday afternoon, as they host James Madison at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center at 2:30 p.m.
