CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia softball team will host the 2002 Hoo’s Who Tournament Friday through Sunday, March 22-24 at The Park in Charlottesville. The four-team tournament features host Virginia, along with Drexel, Penn State and Wright State. The tournament schedule consists of round-robin doubleheaders with each team playing the other three teams in the tournament.

The Cavaliers are 23-10 on the season and went 10-7 on their recently concluded Spring Break trip to California. UVa was scheduled to play a doubleheader against Virginia Tech on Tuesday (March 19), but it was rained out. Drexel stands at 2-13 on the season and were swept by Harvard in a doubleheader (10-0 and 6-5) on March 17. Penn State is 8-11 in 2002 and lost to Purdue (1-0) and nationally-ranked Stanford (4-2) on March 9. Wright State is 4-8 on the season and split a pair of games in its last action on March 10. The Raiders defeated North Carolina A&T 18-1 and lost to James Madison 9-4.

The tournament schedule has been altered due to expected cold weather early in the morning Friday and Saturday. Games will be played on two fields Friday and Saturday, instead of one. The entire 2002 Hoo’s Who Tournament schedule follows:
